D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is ordering city organizations to look at office spaces east of the Anacostia River.

In a new order, Bowser said any government agencies looking for a new location in the next five years should prioritize the spaces east of the river in Wards 7 and 8.

Bowser said the District’s government employs 37,000 people and that “the daily presence of District government employees can have a significant positive impact on an area.”

Bowser’s administration will create a report listing leases set to expire over the next five years and any new office space that might be needed.
