This year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will showcase some of Maryland's best talent. Morgan State University's band -- “ The Magnificent Marching Machine” -- will kick off the parade as the first and only Maryland HBCU to have the honor.
The Magnificent Marching Machine will join 11 other bands and perform on Thanksgiving Day on a two and a half mile route. Band director Melvin Miles said that the band has put a lot into its preparation.
A combination of long hours and daily practice has gotten the band performance ready, according to WTOP.
“While it is a great parade, it is also a television show,” Miles said, noting that many eyes will be on the student performers.
The band will perform a total of five songs and put on a special performance at the end of the route, WBAL reports.
