National Weather Service Issues Tornado Watch for D.C. Region

September 17, 2018

By Erin Thibeau

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia until 10 p.m. Monday.

Isolated tornadoes are possible as the remnants of Hurricane Florence move north into the area.

This includes all counties and cities except for Montgomery, Loudoun, Howard and Frederick, the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang reports

If a tornado warning is issued for your area, make sure to take shelter in an interior room, away from windows.

A tornado in Richmond, Virginia, killed one person on Monday when a furniture store collapsed.
