WPGC has selected the first Real Good People Award winner!

Cydny A. Neville is an English teacher at Rodney E. Thompson Middle School by day and – with her nonprofit Neville Empowerment Network – "a servant leader in the community around the clock."

As her nomination reads:

She has organized an annual Birthday Bag Drive so homeless youth could celebrate their birthdays for the past 18 years! Working with kind-hearted donors in the community, she’s made birthdays happen for thousands of youth in the DMV and beyond. Cydny provides parenting resources to parents across the DMV and parts of VA. She is authorized to facilitate court mandated co-parenting seminars in jurisdictions in Virginia. She also hosts literacy programs for youth and family literacy events. She’s even authored a book, “Baby, You Are Loved,” to help children cope with co-parenting. Cydny is absolutely amazing and unwavering in her efforts to take care of the village. She is the epitome of Good People!

Aladdin and members of WPGC's promotions team surprised Cydny at school on April 11.
