Prince George's County Police Shoot, Kill Man Following Struggle

An armed suspect was shot and killed in Prince George's County following a struggle with police Monday morning.

A citizen called police this morning and informed them that the suspect was stealing items from his car. Officers responded to the 3300 blk of Huntley Square Drive to engage the suspect.

The man ran across the street, entering an apartment building upon their arrival. Officers found the suspect hiding in a laundry room.

The suspect didn't comply with the officers' verbal commands, causing a struggle to ensue. Officers tried to use the taser on the suspect but it did not work.

This is when the suspect pulled out a handgun, police say. During the struggle, one officer managed to get his hand on the suspect's gun and is trying to prevent the suspect from pointing the gun at officers," police say. The suspect managed to shoot the gun, forcing one officer to return fire, striking the suspect.

The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene.
