A Prince George's County man won't be charged with a crime after shooting two police officers who executed a search warrant on the wrong house.

The man says he was trying to protect his daughter from what he thought were home invaders, Prince George’s County Police say.

The officers were executing their search warrant for a suspected drug dealer at 2700 block of Lorring Drive around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The father fired one shot when the officers barged into his District Heights apartment. An officer did return fire but no one was hit.

One of the two wounded officers was treated and released from the hospital. The second officer remains hospitalized and is undergoing treatment for an injury to the arm and face. Both of the officers are assigned to the Special Operations Division, police say.

"As that door now opens, he realizes that those are police officers. He immediately drops that weapon. He immediately goes to the window and starts communicating, 'You've got the wrong address. Don't shoot my daughter,'" Stawinski said.
