Prince George's Co. Man Indicted on Murder After Attacking, Killing Man with Baseball Bat

A Prince George's County man has been indicted on murder charges after he attacked a 21-year-old man with a bat after a dispute over a damaged car door in a parking lot. The victim died three days later.

On June 4, Thomas Hughes, 31, assaulted 21-year-old  Nicholas Keys with a baseball bat in a shopping center parking lot in the 15000 block of Excelsior Drive. 

The investigation reveals the suspect and victim got into a dispute over a damaged car door in the parking lot. 

The Bowie Police Department initially arrested Hughes on an assault charge.

 An autopsy determined the cause of death was head injuries with complications along with multiple facial fractures.

The manner of death was ruled a homicide. Hughes has been indicted for murder by a grand jury.
