Elle Varner Spills the Tea on Her Upcoming Projects

March 13, 2019

By Cameron Jenkins

Elle Varner last released a full album back in 2012 with Perfectly Imperfect and we can honestly say we’re long overdue for a refill.

On this week’s Women Crushing it Wednesday, Elle talks about her upcoming EP and sophomore album (with a definite feature from none other than Juicy J) and her humble beginnings.

“Let’s just say, I was always about that life,” Elle tells Poet about being discovered while singing at a coat check.  “I always had my guitar; I would bring my guitar to school.”

And before her Grammy win for her work on Chance The Rapper’s 2016 Album Coloring Book, she was grinding to make her dream a reality in New York and worked as an audio engineer making 10 bucks an hour.

“I was like I’m not leaving until I get signed,” Elle said.

But all of her successes aside, Elle says she's just like us.

“I’m really so regular,” Elle said.  “I like to laugh, I like to cook, watch TV, read… and I love conversations.”
