The iconic "Soul Train" television series will be adapted into a Broadway musical outlining the life of its 22-year host Don Cornelius.

Questlove, of the group "Roots" will co-executive produce the project alongside Cornelius' son  Tony, Anthony E. Suiker and Live Nation Urban president Shawn Gee, Rolling Stone reported.

“For 37 years, and with purpose, through music, dance and style, Soul Train brought love, peace and soul to a national audience. This positive representation is extremely satisfying and marks its 50th anniversary. Honoring [my father's] accomplishments, creative vision and legacy with a Broadway musical only emphasizes the impact Soul Train has had on our American fabric," Tony Cornelius said.

The play is set to debut in 2021, honoring the show's 50th anniversary.
