A D.C. nonprofit is partnering with the mayor’s office to provide returning citizens with clothes for work.

Martha’s Table, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizen Affairs, will make the clothes available at Martha’s Table Outfitters, a free community boutique store. The facility offers baby and children’s clothing and business clothes for adults.

“Employment is the deepest and most urgent need for returning citizens seeking to successfully reenter society,” said Brian Ferguson, MORCA executive director. “This amazing partnership creates a distinctly unique resource for the community, by removing the significant barrier presented by the lack of business attire when applying for and working in new jobs in the District.”

Returning citizens receive a free membership to the store and a $40 store credit that gets reloaded every month.

The store is located at 2204 Martin Luther King Ave. Southeast. It’s open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Clothing donations can be dropped in one of Martha’s Table’s bins in the city. The bin locations can be found here.
