Diddy is still adjusting to life without girlfriend Kim Porter.

In Essence magazine’s May issue, Sean “Diddy” Combs commented on Porter’s death, making clear he’s “a lot more present now.” Porter, who had three kids with Combs, died from pneumonia in November.

Combs said in an interview with the magazine that he has prioritized taking care of his kids.

“My family was always first, but there are countless times when I chose work over everything else,” Combs said. “But every day I can hear her telling me to go and spend some time with the kids and make sure everybody’s all right.”

Combs said Porter felt ill three days before her death and sent the kids to his house so they wouldn’t get sick.

“One night I was checking on her, and she was like, ‘Puffy, take care of my babies,’” Combs said in the interview. “She actually said that to me before she died.”

After Porter died, Combs “jumped into mommy mode” to ensure their kids didn’t learn about Porter’s death from social media or a news outlet.

“Every time Kim and I talked, it was about the kids,” Combs said.

The magazine will be available Friday.
