Vaping has become an increasing cause for concern as more and more lung illnesses and injuries have been reported across the country. Over 1,600 vaping-related injuries have been reported to the CDC from all 50 U.S. states, excluling Alaska.

And now the first vaping-related death has been confirmed in the District. On Thursday, the CDC reported that an unidentified victim succumbed to injuries related to vaping.

The CDC recommends that consumers should avoid "buy[ing] any type of e-cigarette, or vaping, products, particularly those containing THC, off the street," and "modify[ing] or add[ing] any substances to e-cigarette, or vaping, products that are not intended by the manufacturer, including products purchased through retail establishments,"

Information will continue to be updated every Thursday on the CDC website.
