Meek Mill Released From Prison

April 24, 2018

By Erin Thibeau

Meek Mill is a free man! On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ordered Meek's immediate release on "unsecured bail," overruling Judge Genece Brinkley, TMZ reports

Judge Brinkley had been accused of holding a grudge against the rapper, keeping him in prison despite prosecuters asking that Meek's conviction be overturned due to a dirty cop

Back in November, the 30-year-old rapper was sentenced to two to four years in prison for violating probation on a gun and drug case that was nearly a decade old.

Meek's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, told TMZ, "Meek was unjustly convicted and should not have spent a single day in jail.  Meek is excited to be reunited with his family, and we, along with Meek, intend to continue to shine the light on a justice system in need of reform to prevent any other citizen from being put through what Meek has endured."

The rapper thanked his supporters, saying, "While the past five months have been a nightmare, the prayers, visits, calls, letters and rallies have helped me stay positive."

Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin shared his congratulations to the rapper before picking him up.

@meekmill is FREE!!! Just left visiting Meek with @kevinhart4real and I’m on the way back to pick him up as we speak! #MeekisFree #GoSixers
