Meek Mill Reaches 'Boss Year,' Becomes Co-Owner Of Lids

June 27, 2019

Meek Mill is a big fan of the right cap. Now, he can call an entire company his own.

The rapper is now a co-owner of the hat company Lids, the company announced. Mill also has plans to create a special limited-edition set of hats that will be released in August.

Business Insider was the first to report the news of Mill’s ownership deal. He told the outlet he reached his "boss year."

Mill, the company’s new director of creative strategy, first became interested in the investment through his friendship with Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin.

"I've always been a fan of Lids – growing up, I remember buying their hats to match my outfits and look my best," Mill said in a statement. "It's amazing to see my relationship with the brand come full-circle and have the opportunity to evolve as a businessman. We have a great team in place and we're looking forward to taking Lids to new heights."

The Lids ownership group already features Fanatics and Ames Watson, which acquired Lids in February.

Lids has an online presence and owns more than 1,200 stores across the country.
