Amazon Facility Might Be Closer To Opening at Westphalia Town Center

July 19, 2019

A Prince George’s County shopping center that residents were told would include shops and restaurants will now include a new Amazon facility.

On Thursday night, a proposal for the facility at the Westphalia Town Center was approved.

The five-story building will be 800,000 square feet, according to a Washington Business Journal report.

It will feature about 1,800 parking spaces and 267 loading zones with 64 docks, the report said.

The facility, which is expected to be open 24 hours, will reportedly include 1,778 employees each day.

Critics of the new facility anticipate it will increase the amount of noise in the neighborhood and cause security concerns.
