Former Redskins defensive lineman Barry Cofield was arrested in Orlando after leading police on a chase when they found him asleep behind the wheel, Spectrum News 13 reports. Cofield's breath smelled of alcohol and he had heroin in his possession when authorities took him into custody.

Cofield was found asleep in his Cadillac Escalade, blocking traffic at an intersection, according to Spectrum News 13. Cofield took off when deputies demanded he put the car in park.

Eventually, authorities were able to box Cofield's SUV in, but not before he rammed into a police car that tried to block him in.

The former NFL player was found with "two small, clear plastic bags with a  red powdery substance in a pocket of his pants," Spectrum News 13 reports. The substance field tested positive for heroin.

Cofield faces charges of heroin possession, fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault of a police officer, and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence.

Cofield was on the Redskins from 2011 to 2015.
