What's in Store for Metro's Blue, Yellow & Silver Lines This Weekend

Metro riders are in store for another weekend of heavy track work. 

From Saturday, September 29, through Sunday, September 30, the Silver, Blue and Yellow Line trains will run every 24 minutes.

Yellow Line riders traveling to or from stations north of Mt. Vernon Sq. will have to use the Green Line. And buses will replace trains at the Largo Town Center station, which WMATA says will be closed for grout pad renewal. 

Over on the Red Line, trains will run every 8 to 16 minutes, and on the Orange Line, trains will operate every 12 minutes on Saturday and 24 minutes on Sunday.

At least Green Line riders will have regular weekend service. Enjoy it.

Red Line

Trains every 8 to 16 minutes 

Red Line trains will operate every 16 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, with additional trains between Farragut North and Silver Spring during daytime hours.

Single tracking between Friendship Heights and Medical Center to allow for track lighting, rail, tie and fastener renewal. 

Orange Line

Trains every 12 to 24 minutes 

Orange Line trains will operate every 12 minutes on Saturday and every 24 minutes on Sunday.

Single tracking at West Falls Church to allow for rail and tie renewal.

Silver Line

Buses replace trains at Largo Town Center 

Silver Line trains operate every 24 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Morgan Boulevard. 

Free shuttle bus service provided between Morgan Boulevard and Largo Town Center. Please allow up to 15 minutes additional travel time.

Blue Line 

Buses replace trains at Largo Town Center 

Blue Line trains operate every 24 minutes between Franconia-Springfield and Morgan Boulevard. 

Single tracking between Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon City to allow for installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system. 

Free shuttle bus service provided between Morgan Boulevard and Largo Town Center. Please allow up to 15 minutes additional travel time.

Station closed: Largo Town Center

Yellow Line 

Trains every 24 minutes, Huntington to Mt Vernon Sq. only 

Single tracking between Pentagon City and L'Enfant Plaza to allow for installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system. 

Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Sq. must use the Green Line.
