Who knew showing up to the Washington Capitals' Stanley Cup parade with a replica cup would make a group of friends some of the most popular around?

That's exactly what happened to a few friends from D.C. who had the clever and crafty idea to make one the night before the parade.

The materials needed? Plastic containers, a small bowl, a center piece from a roll of tape, aluminum foil, aluminum foil tape, a hot glue gun, glue sticks, a ruler, marker, cardboard scraps
and newspaper.

Seemed manageable enough for Walid Makbul, who led the charge among his friends.

Makbul grabbed the materials Monday night and began to build the beautiful piece.

It started with a skeleton.

A few dedicated hours later and voila! A cup was born.

And even though it wasn't the real Stanley Cup, people chugged from it and kissed it like it was.

That’s not the actual cup, but they sure partied like it was! #ALLCAPS
