Chance the Rapper Apologizes for Kanye West Comments

April 27, 2018

In the wake of Kanye West's tweets about loving Donald Trump, many in the hip hop community have taken sides.

Chance the Rapper tweeted in defense of his mentor and it did not go well for him.

But it looks like after a wave of criticism on Twitter and in the media, Donald Trump thanking Chance was the final straw.

The Chicago rapper has shared a lengthy apology, owning up to his mistakes. "My attempt to support Kanye is being used to discredit my brothers and sisters in the movement and I can't sit by and let that happen either," Chance said. "I'd never support anyone who has made a career out of hatred, racism and discrimination. I'd never support someone who'd talk about Chicago as if it's hell on eath and then take steps to make life harder here for the most disenfranchised among us."

"My statement about black folk not having to be democrats (though true) was a deflection from the real conversation...said that shit at the wrongest time."
