Armed Suspect Shot, Killed by Police at Prince George's County Checkers

May 14, 2018

An armed suspect was shot and killed by police at a Checkers restaurant in Prince George's County Monday morning.

Police responded to an alarm call at the Checkers in the 8800 block of Woodyard Road in Clinton at around 3:40 a.m.

When they arrived, officers set up perimeter around the fast food restaurant and ordered the suspect to surrender. The suspect did not listen to the officer's commands to surrender.

One officer observed that the suspect was armed and alerted other officers, police say. The suspect came out of a side door with the weapon in his hand and that's when one officer shot him with his duty weapon, striking the suspect one time.

Officers immediately began rendering aid to the suspect but the suspect died at the hospital.

No officers were injured, police say.

A handgun and screwdriver were recovered close to where the suspect was shot, police say.
