St. Louis Rapper Known for 'Pop, Lock and Drop It' Killed in Double Shooting

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A rapper was the victim of a double shooting in north St. Louis County Thursday night.

Lawrence Franks, better known as Huey, showed up at a local hospital and was declared dead after being shot in the Kinloch neighborhood around 11PM, police say.

A second shooting victim showed up at the Ferguson Police Department and is being treated. He's expected to survive.

Police believe as many as 10 other individuals were present in and around the crime scene during the occurrence of this incident, which was in the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. Investigators strongly encourage those that are potential witnesses to please contact them at 314-615-5400. Huey, 32, is best known for his 2006 single "Pop, Lock and Drop It." There's been an outpouring of thoughts and prayers for the Kinloch native on social media.

The St. Louis Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is leading the homicide investigation.
