Please, I’m writing this to help out a friend. I cut his hair. He never asked for a mo’hawk, designs or part, just a 1 with the grain. He’s about to turn 16.

Markus Freeman has held his job at Ole’ Glory in Georgetown for over 3 years! At the young age of 16 he has obtained his Safe Serve certificate. Currently working two jobs, Ole’ Glory and Unos. He is a wonderful cook and is going to college for it.

Markus is the 4th oldest of 8 children. Never bending to sex, or drugs, at the young age of 6 had to care for his youngest siblings. Going to the store, laundrymat, and his siblings schools he became a young father. He once told me my mom gets high all day, crack, weed, pills, you name it, she does it. Encouraging himself he is the 3rd in his family to complete high school, the 1st from his immediate family to graduate.

Paying for bills, and uniforms for his sisters he can not afford the senior trip or ceromony. “I even checked the Thrift Store for a robe to graduate in, I couldn’t find one,”disappointed Markus told me. He’s smart and mature for his age, I just want him to experience prom. He deserves it. Please help my client. He hasn’t had a break for himself since his great aunt died, Clara. Its hard when your invisible to your mother, yet even harder to make your mom invisable to your 4 younger siblings, and your oldest sister’s 3 children. He had no choice but to be a father.

I am writing to WPGC 95.5 to ask for their assistance in making sure my 17 yr. old daughter Broshay Tillman has a memorable prom. I am currently homeless living in Valley Place Transitional Housing Program. I came here from DC General Families Forward Facility in January. I”m currently unemployed and I have a 15 and 9 yr. old too. My 17 yr old attends Ballou Senior High School and has worked really hard to graduate. She is a good girl, no criminal record, drug free and she’s still pure( thats a blessing in itself) and did I mention she’s also gay(which I support her 110% in what ever decisions she makes in life). So, when she came to me and said “Mom thank you for being so supportive in the decisions that I have made so far, but I just want to give you the opportunity to see me all dolled up this one time” I was shocked. Because of my financial situation I am not able to provide the things she needs to make this moment possible for her, So, please help me make this dream come true for me and her.

I’m a teacher. There is one special student, Helen who has been through a lot, but continues to do her best by coming to school and getting the job done. She is a senior this year and is very interested in attending the prom, but has very limited money. A dress for the prom would be great. Helen would be a great candidate. She has very little family support and is currently living on her own. She has been offered college opportunities out of state, but is not interested in leaving the area and not being close to her five younger siblings. We would like to make this event special for her.
