Meet ‘The Opportunity’ Finalists

And then there were eight…! The second season of “The O” — which offers young musicians a platform to showcase their vocal skills — is in full swing, and the competition is down to the Elite Eight.

What’s on the line? A record deal.

You’ll learn more about each finalist below before the final competition on April 29 at D.C. Lottery Live.

Finalist:Davis Gestiehr

Walt Whitman High School’s Davis Gestiehr wants his music to help people who are going through a hard time. He started writing music after losing a loved one to cancer.

Finalist:Abby Tawiah

Abby Tawiah, representing Baltimore School for the Arts, is passionate about her Ghanaian roots and would love to make her parents proud.

Finalist:Jeneesah Tate

Jeneesah, a student at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, isn’t focused on money but rather doing what she loves.

Finalist:Angel Austin

Angel, from Potomac Senior High School, knew music was her passion since she heard Adele sing at the age of eight.

Finalist: Tyler Chaffins

Tyler, representing St. Charles High School, can rap and sing, but won’t limit himself to one or the other.

Finalist: Jeyhan Turker

Jeyhan, a Riverside High School student, says music is a “safe house” for him that makes him feel at home.

Finalist: Jayna Brown

Jayna, representing Duke Ellington School of the Arts, would perform in front of her stuffed animals as a kid. Now, she hopes to turn those early dreams into reality.

Finalist: Madison Park
Madison is from Atholton High School. She speaks about how she discovered music, her life-changing trip to Guatemala and more.
