“I Am Not Your Negro” doesn’t hit theaters until February 3, but it’s already generating serious buzz.

The documentary, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, is based on “Remember This House,” an unfinished book by writer, poet and civil rights activist James Baldwin.

The film is being hailed by critics as “powerfully and painfully relevant today even though its subject died almost 30 years ago” — thanks in part to director Raoul Peck’s references to current events.

The film already has a 96 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
