D’Angelo surprised fans and “Best Of” lists by dropping Black Messiah at the last minute in December back in 2014, and now it looks as though J. Cole might be following suit with a new surprise album.

Over at iTunes, information about a new album from Cole has surfaced. According to iTunes, it’s called 4 Your Eyez Only and it’s set to release next Friday, December 9th. The album will feature ten tracks, although specific song titles haven’t been released yet. If this isn’t some kind of strange April Fool’s joke in December, it would mark Cole’s first studio album since his 2014 effort Forest Hills Drive.

The drop comes after Cole told crowds gathered at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in October that his performance there would be his “last show for a very long time.” At the time, Cole seemed keen on taking a break, or at least concentrating on recording new music rather than touring what he’d already created. Either way, that break has yielded new music, which means it’s going to be a very Happy Holidays for Cole fans.
