Sherrell Woodward woke up on October 1 completely unaware it was her wedding day.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend was executing an epic plan for a surprise engagement and wedding. Alfred Duncan, a.k.a. “Black Boo” from local go-go band Mambo Sauce (whose song “Welcome to D.C.” plays every weekday to open The Joe Clair Morning Show) had orchestrated a wedding destined to go viral.
Alfred popped the question at noon and made Sherrell promise to follow his lead for the rest of the day, no questions asked. The unknowing bride-to-be was whisked off for hair and makeup and told the glamorous look was for engagement photos.
Sherrell wore a blindfold as she was led into the wedding venue in National Harbor, Maryland.
Watch the fitness expert and speaker talk about the moment the blindfold came off below.
The couple has gotten national attention since their whirlwind wedding on Saturday, and the Duncans granted WPGC their very first interview on Monday.

Since the story went viral, the Sherrell and Alfred have been interviewed by Good Morning America, Essence magazine, the Huffington Post and more. On Friday, The Joe Clair Morning Show checked in with the two to see how their first week of married life is going and gift them a honeymoon package from Liberty Travel. Meet Sherrell at this year’s For Sisters Only event, where she will be representing her fitness company The Good Thick.
