By Tony Redz

Nick Cannon is the ultimate Renaissance Man. The rapper, actor, comedian, entrepreneur, record producer, film director and radio and television personality has been in the business since he was a teenager.

Cannon stopped by WPGC on July 19 to talk to Tony Redz about making movies, producing new artists, his new single with Jeremih, Mariah Carey and more.

The “Drumline” actor, “Wildin’ Out” creator and “America’s Got Talent” host has ventured into directing, as he told Redz.

He’s also partly behind the success of rising stars like TV personality Amber Rose and singer Kehlani, and is always on the hunt for new talent with “drive” and “passion.”

“I want to continue to create platforms ’cause I’ve done so many amazing things in my own career and lived out all of my dreams,” Cannon said. “It’s my job, my duty, and my privilege to give other young people the same opportunities that I had.”

As for his ex Mariah Carey, Cannon says “It’s all love” between them; he talks to her and their twins every single day.

Though the tabloids may speculate about drama between Cannon and the pop star, who is engaged to Australian billionaire James Packer, he said, “I wish her nothing but the best.”

Family comes first for Cannon: “Everything I do I do for my children; they’re my number one priority.”

The multi-talented star has released a new single, “If I Was Your Man,” featuring Jeremih. Despite TV and film projects, music is Cannon’s “first love,” he promised.

The rapper even agreed to a cypher with Redz to close out the interview.
