It’s no secret that Kanye West is working on new music for his allegedly titled new album Turbo Grafx 16, and last night (May 31) Snapchat videos appeared showing him collaborating with Big Sean.
Is it possible the collaboration had less to do with Kanye’s upcoming album and more to do with the long-rumored follow-up to Cruel Summer? Puff Daddy’s former personal valet Fonzworth Bentley may have reignited the rumor mill thanks to a photo he posted on Instagram. The pic shows Kanye in profile with the hashtag #CruelWinter at the bottom. “Happening now,” Bentley wrote.
Meanwhile, the Snapchat videos captured by TeamKanyeDaily’s Instagram account show Kanye and Big Sean listening to tracks they’ve finished recording. One includes the line, “Yeezy might have to go and put his Louis on.” Kanye seems especially excited by that track; he jumps all over the studio as he’s listening to the playback.
In another video, Big Sean snaps Kanye listening to something through headphones before he shares a bit of that other track with viewers. “Pray for me, I’m about to hit the Ye button / I don’t wanna say nothing wrong,” Kanye raps. Travi$ Scott can be heard on the track as well.
Cruel Winter has been a rumored project since as early as 2012. Of course, back in October 2015, it seemed likely fans were finally going to hear the album thanks to increased social media posts hinting as much. Whether Cruel Winter will ever come to fruition remains to be seen, but maybe Kanye has finally turned a corner and given the green light to the G.O.O.D. Music project.
