Taylor Swift was noticeably absent from the Billboard Music Awards last night despite her eight nominations and a win for Top Touring Artist. According to reports, she was at her boyfriend Calvin Harris’ side following a serious car accident in which he was involved on Friday.
Police told The New York Daily News that at 11 p.m. Friday night, a teenage girl “crossed the divider and struck his SUV” outside Los Angeles. Harris was taken to a hospital in Burbank to be treated for injuries, which reportedly include a laceration to the face. One passenger in the teen driver’s car was treated for a “non-life-threatening” broken pelvis after she was ejected from the moving car. TMZ obtained photos from the wreckage, illustrating just how serious the collision was.
Following the accident, Harris (birth name: Adam Wiles) released this statement about the crash via his official Facebook page:
Adam’s transport was involved in a collision this evening on the way to the airport. As a result he will be unable to perform at Omnia tonight. He has been examined by doctors and told to rest for a few days.
