Ex-Scandal star Columbus Short pleaded not guilty to felony battery charges after he was charged for allegedly punching a man in West Hollywood in March.

Short appeared for a brief arraignment in Los Angeles after the actor’s lawyer tried to fast-track the case.  Unfortunately, Deputy District Attorney David Shorr believed the victim’s injuries were too serious for the possibility.

According to reports, Short is accused of ‘cold-cocking’ the man – knocking him unconscious as well as fracturing his left eye.

Due to his plea, Short will reappear in court on June 5 to set a date for a preliminary hearing.

This isn’t Short’s only legal case on file.  He is also accused of misdemeanor spousal battery after his wife Tanee Short filed a case claiming he threatened to kill her with a knife in April.

Short will be back in court on May 21 to discuss the restraining order his wife filed against him.
