Sixteen-year-old Alexis Carter knew exactly what she wanted to wear for a Hollywood-themed prom experience this year as soon as she saw Rihanna rock the red carpet in a green jumpsuit at the Echo Awards in 2010.  Deciding to build her own costume that imitated the singer’s, Carter went to prom and had the night of her life.

Though, her mood considerably dropped when she noticed a slew of berating tweets and mocking hashtags the next day on Twitter, including a few from Rihanna herself.

“I was very offended,” Alexis said to Fox Baltimore. “Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing. The poses was different but the outfit wasn’t.”

Rihanna, alongside thousands of Twitter users, made the hashtag #PromBat trend and included side-by-side comparisons of Carter’s outfit with a multitude of teasing memes.

Another tweet stating “she gets it” was posted alongside the logo for Wu-Tang Clan.

“She don’t love her fans like she says she does,” Alexis said to the news station, claiming that five days after prom the insults haven’t stopped.

Afraid to show her face, she assures Fox she will be attending prom next year, though a Rihanna-styled suit will not be in play.
