WPGC, alongside El Zol 107.9, State Farm, and  Once Upon a Prom helped hundreds of local teens on Saturday, May 3 go to the prom in style by donating free prom dresses, tuxedos, shoes, ties and accessories to the 6th annual Operation Pretty and Polished at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington in northeast D.C.

A long line of teens and parents waited outside at 7 a.m. until the doors opened at 9:00 a.m. to be the first to sort through hundreds of dresses and suits to find prom night attire.

WPGC’s Pablo and Tati of the Pablo Morning Show, DJ FlexxMr. Peter Parker, Sunni came out in support of the annual project.  Celebrity shoppers included Washington Redskins Trent Robinson, Chicago Bears Josh Morgan (formerly of Washington Redskins), and D.C. 50/CW’s Paul Wharton.  All celebrity shoppers assisted the young boys in finding the right look for prom, while the girls received celebrity shopping tips from  Miss University of the District of Columbia 2013-2014 Wanda Jenkins, Former Mrs. Maryland 2011 Sandra Bryan-Grier, recording artist Tulani, and ladies of the WPGC Street Team.

After finding the right outfit, a team of cosmetic professionals did makeup as some girls were attending prom that evening.

This year’s event also featured a mini-college fair with UDC, Georgetown and Trinity Universities.  The Department of Education also provided information on receiving financial aid (FAFSA) for college.
