Valentine’s Day is the day of hearts, candy, romance and date nights. This week, I am giving you a twofer to assist you in planning your festivities.
If you want to see a great remake of the 1996 movie “About Last Night” with a 2014 spin, this is the film for you. Kevin Hart, D.C.’s own Regina Hall and Michael Ealy, and Joy Bryant will provide you with 100 minutes of laugh-out-loud fun. The movie is basically dating and relationships on steroids in the new millennium. Whether you’re single, had your heart broken or been on the carousel of serial dating, you can definitely relate.
For laughter and personal reflection (oops, did I say that?) I give this movies 4 heartbeats.
For those of you would have been dating a little longer and need brownie points, “Winter’s Tale” is the winner.
“Winter’s Tale” is a mystical love story that take you on a journey spanning over a century. This fairy tale is set in New York City with main characters Peter Lake (Colin Farrel) and Beverly Penn (Jennifer Connely). The duo are destined to meet in a fateful moment but it’s not all sunshine and roses. In any great fairy tale, there is an evil element as Pearly (Russell Crowe), driven by his sense of greed, betrayal and vengeance, tries to destroy the one thing that matters most to Peter — his love of Beverly.
It is a typical mushy chick flick but most Valentine’s Day movies are. This film is definitely 5 heartbeats for hopeless romantics.
So, enjoy the long weekend and see you at the concession stand with conversational hearts and smooches.
