Macklemore, Lorde, Daft Punk Sweep GRAMMYs

Music’s Biggest Night was just that… big!  Hollywood showed up in droves to the legendary award show to support and celebrate a major year in music.  Iconic names joined forces on stage to perform including Paul McCartney with Ringo Starr, Sara Bareilles and Carole King, Imagine Dragons with Kendrick Lamar and an opening sequence from married power couple Beyonce and Jay Z.

Beyonce opened the GRAMMYs Awards in Los Angeles with a sultry performance of her hit single “Drunk in Love,” dancing across the stage in a revealing black outfit and black stockings before husband Jay Z appeared in a black suit to rap his verse.  That wasn’t the only dynamic duet from the night.  Robin Thicke performed with Chicago, heating up the stage with “Blurred Lines,” before Thicke took to the floor to finish the performance.  Even Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr hit the stage later in the evening for a much-anticipated performance.

But as the stage blazed with massive performances, it was the winner’s of the night that took the spotlight.  With surprising upsets and grateful artists, here are the biggest winners from GRAMMY night.

Macklemore surprised the world as he and Ryan Lewis swept the rap categories, taking Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song and Best New Artist.  Justin Timberlake and Jay Z took home the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Music Video and Best R&B Song.

But it wasn’t all fun for the boys.  Seventeen-year-old New Zealand singer Lorde nabbed Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance while country underdog Kacey Musgraves overshadowed Taylor Swift and Blake Shelton to win Best Country Album.

But Macklemore’s massive wins weren’t the only surprises.  EDM duo Daft Punk, who haven’t said a word to the public since they began, won the coveted Album of the Year along with Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Dance Album.
