When Juicy J revealed he wanted to give $50,000 worth of scholarship money to the woman who could twerk the best, people were stunned. But true to his word, the rapper awarded 19-year-old Zaire Holmes the money and she didn’t have to twerk at all.
Teaming up with WorldStarHipHop.com, Juicy J launched the “Juicy J Scholarship Foundation” competition where people were open to submit videos as to why they deserved the massive scholarship. While the competition began with a basis on the best twerking, the rules read differently.
Holmes admits she read the rules carefully that clarified that twerking was not mandatory to win the money.
The single mother, full-time student and future doctor submitted a two-and-a-half minute video beginning with a small rap verse before she explained further why she deserved the scholarship. She even had teachers and friends vouch for her work ethic and good grades.
While Juicy J scrambled through thousands of entries, he finally landed on Holmes and surprised her with the check in person. In the announcement video, the rapper began with a look back at the original contest video which was a montage of twerking women as he explained the competition. It then faded into Holmes sitting with a friend at a restaurant anxiously awaiting the results of the finals as Juicy J walks in with an oversized check in hand.
“Congratulations, you’re the winner of the $50,000 scholarship,” he reveals as an emotional Holmes sits nearby.
