Jay-Z has enlisted some big screen heavyweights for his next Hollywood project. The Roc Nation hip-hop mogul is reportedly planning to film his upcoming Made In America festival with help from Oscar-winning tandem Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.

The Made In America movie will detail the making of the history-making Philadelphia music festival, which will feature such headlining acts as Drake, D’Angelo, Pearl Jam, Run-DMC, Rick Ross, Jill Scott, and Jay-Z himself. Also taking part in the film is Steve Stoute, who will co-produce Made In America with Grazer, according to the New York Post

Howard, whose celebrated film credits include Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and Frost/Nixon, will direct the film.

“It is going to be born through Jay-Z’s perspective . . .how he puts the event together,” Glazer explained to the Post. “Jay stayed the king for a very long time . . . I can’t even begin to explain how he is capable of remaining relevant. He is a phenom, like a musical Michael Jordan.”

The brainchild of Jay-Z, Made In America will kick off September 1st and 2nd. Jay-Z’s previous film work, 2004’s Fade To Black, documented his farewell album and Madison Square Garden concert. A release date for Made In America the film has yet to be set.—Keith Murphy, CBS Local
