But the young R&B singer’s tale didn’t exactly turn out that way. You might remember Kem from his recent #1 singles: 2003’s “Love Calls” and 2005’s with “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” He employs a full band on new album Intimacy: Album III, complete with a string section with cello and violin. That’s the case with this 2004 masterpiece from Brooklyn’s [lastfm]Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra[/lastfm]. In the time since this album’s release, members of the band have gone on to create and star in the broadway hit Fela! about the life and music of the infamous [lastfm]Fela Kuti[/lastfm]. Tao got his start as part of the seminal hip hop group [lastfm]MHZ[/lastfm] and was known for collaborations with [lastfm]El-P[/lastfm], [lastfm]RJD2[/lastfm] and others. King Of Hearts would have been his first major solo release.
